Foregone conclusions

There's this guy in our class who we all thought was gay (not that there's anything wrong with that). Let's call him Gary. I promptly abandoned that idea when I found out he was married. However, one of my friends, let's call him ... Heinrich (because I find that name mildly amusing), was SO convinced that Gary was gay that he just assumed that Gary was married to a guy. Naturally. Hahahah. I'm imagining a conversation between Gary and Heinrich.

H: *thinking Gary's gay*
G: So I got married a couple years ago ...
H: Oh sure, to a dude, you mean. More power to ya.
G: I have a wife.
H: (nodding) Who's a man.
G: She's a woman.
H: Oh, ok. Like a cross-dresser. Sure, sure.
G: No, she's an actual woman.
H: Who used to be a man. Mmhmm... Surgery works wonders these days!
G: A woman, who always was and will always be A WOMAN!
H: Wait, you're not gay?

I have a friend whom I've known now for ~3 years, and I still can't believe he's not gay. I mean, honestly, he has all the typical traits, yet um... girlfriend for 2 yrs? Which then makes me think, did she ever think he was gay? Because the moment I met him and heard his voice, I came to the conclusion that he swung the other way. What did she think when she met him? Well... he is one of those children brought up by real life through and through hippies.
