Excuses

I'm on this case with this partner who regularly works on Sundays. Which means, from time to time, when things are due to go out on Monday, he schedules calls on Sundays with the rest of us. UGH. But the conversations always go something like this:

On Friday...
Partner: Let's talk about deadlines. This needs to go out on Monday, so let's set up a call on Sunday. Is that ok with everyone?
Rest of us: *silence*
Partner: hm?
Rest: *silence*
This could go on for 5-10 seconds. Which is kind of awkward when there's 5 people on the line, any one of whom could say something.
Someone: Uh. Ok.
Everyone else: Yeah, alright.

This is what my sis suggested.

me: "how does sun look?"
Andrea: um... i'm having surgery?
me: lol
Andrea: i might be pretty busy
