TV totally sucks
Except that it doesn't suck, it's awesome, and that's why I'm feeling so frustrated. Remember when the government said, hey U.S., hey guys, guess what, there's this thing, it's called digital tv and man, you'll get SO MANY CHANNELS, and then everyone went wooooow? What the government didn't say was, but not if you don't have cable, you giant loser. *ahem*
So ok, I'm that grandma who has to use a converter box to get tv via antenna. But I dutifully hooked up the converter box and waited for my mind to be blown with ALL THOSE CHANNELS!
So the aftermath. Mind you, I used to get six channels. Now I get two. TWO, at any one time. Meaning, say I want to watch Fox. Well, if I'm currently watching CBS, Fox won't come in. So I get up and fiddle with the antenna (yes, antenna) and Fox comes in, and perhaps as a bonus, I get ABC. But now, no CBS. Basically, if you want to switch to another channel, 50% of the time, you have to go move the antenna around.
How is this better than the days without a remote control (or when cavemen used to draw on their cave walls), you ask? It's not. In fact, maybe it's worse because at least then, you didn't have to get up to switch the channel AND adjust the antenna.
So maybe I don't watch tv anymore. Maybe I just watch DVDs. Oh wait, the DVD (/VCR (!)) player broke, so we're using the karaoke machine. Yeah, a karaoke machine. A karaoke machine that doesn't have a subtitles button so I can't understand the dying, mumbly woman who's narrating 30% of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. How is it possible that the one problem I have with a karaoke machine is that DOESN'T HAVE SUBTITLES.
There's irony everywhere I turn. But no tv.

Get a new TV. COSTCO!! Even without cable, just having an antenna gets me all the major networks (in HD) plus some other random channels.
That's the ultimate saaaaaaaaad. What does one DO without TV?
At least it's all bad TV right now. But fall season starts in a couple of weeks!!!
This blog posting is sad. Upgrade your technology, grandma.
Can you please buy a new TV? =(((
How else can we discuss at work in a timely fashion?
