Not-so-gently down the stream
Come do this race, they said. You paddle in the shimmering San Francisco Bay, alongside the Golden Gate Bridge into Sausalito, they said. Oh! well that sounds real nice, we said. And so we did.
Indeed, we started at Fort Bunker, with the Golden Gate on our left and the Bay Bridge and the SF skyline to our right. Then we raced to Sausalito with its adorable shops and seaside restaurants. Sea lions looked curiously at us and dophins (DOLPHINS!) played as we glided by. Magical, right? NO.
It started with me getting up at 4:30 am. We got to Fort Baker just before 7 am. I packed tank tops, shorts, sandals because it had been stifling hot all week. And it was MAYBE 50 degrees. MAYBE. And windy. And so foggy that it felt like it was drizzling. And the water so choppy, one of the boat capsized at the start. Actually, a picture's worth a thousand words.

Does THAT make you want to go get on the water?? But off we went. And we came in 2nd!
And then ... it was sunny. AFTER.
So we spent a lovely day in Sausalito.
