Happy Easter

Today I built a cake. I don't generally do a lot of baking - I'm more inclined to cook stuff. And today I remembered why. I found a yummy looking recipe for a 4-layer lemon-raspberry Easter cake this morning and set off enthusiastically sifting flour and creaming butter.

Cut to me 4 hours later. I'm fretting over the icing separating and lamenting not just buying a damn cake for $35. I began rethinking my secret dream of going to culinary school. Frankly, if I had to wake up tomorrow and bake another cake, I'd be mad. But THEN. The icing incorporated. And I discovered we had cake decorating utensils. My spirits were renewed.

(I briefly considered writing "Happy Easter!" but who are we kidding? I could barely handle those straight lines. )

Is that piping you ask? Why yes, yes it is.
