I wanna quit the gym, Part II
So, after a visit to the gym, a call to corporate HQ arguing with a rep and her manager for 30 min, and a letter to corporate HQ ... victory is mine!
Basically, I contested their charging me for the 30 day notice period because the contract I signed had nothing in it to suggest I would be billed for it. My phone conversation with the rep about this included snippets like me going, "There's nothing in the contract that says I have to pay this," and her going, "There's nothing in the contract that says you don't." Well, geez, who can argue with that logic?
We ended the call with her telling me that she had nothing more to say to me and me telling her how ironic it was that their website said that customer satisfaction is their #1 priority.
Then I wrote the letter. Then I won. YES.

Wow. They employ some pretty unbelievably unreasonable people at this gym. I mean, what do they really lose when they've got somebody who is really motivated to argue to the end? They're not paying you back money, they just aren't earning the extra dough!!
VICTORY!!!!
I stopped kidding myself and quit the gym today. After your story, I was glad to find quitting the YMCA was easy. If you want to sign up for a few months, never go, and the finally quit, the YMCA is the gym for you.
